A collagen wasting disease that typically effects one half of the face. It can be much worse than in this patient and may 'burn itself out' after some years as happened in this case. Collagen is used as a temporary measure to fill in the wasted area.

Treatment of Varicose veins has been radically changed by the introduction of Sotradecol, a chemical that is injected into the diseased veins, causing them to shut down, reliving the pressure, swelling, pain and significantly improving the appearance of Varicose veins. Deeper veins are treated under ultra sounds guidance. This is not surgery. Anesthesia is not required and injections are almost painless. Patients may return to work immediately after treatment.
